We'll meet in front of the Bike Barn Rentals, next to Bainbridge Ferry Terminal (see the location map above). Be there, ready to go, at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
This ride is designed for Seattle cyclists: catch the Bainbridge ferry over, spin Kitsap, and return via Bremerton—a perfect two-ferry loop. The 51-mile point-to-point route links the two docks via quiet backroads, forested climbs, and coastal views. We’ll roll out near the Bainbridge dock, pause mid-morning at cyclist-favorite Poulsbohemian Coffeehouse, and break for a BYOL at Kitsap Memorial State Park on the Hood Canal. Most of the 3,700 feet of gain comes in the back half, with punchy climbs and a sharp 10% descent into Bremerton that demands your full attention. A final stop at Hot Java fuels us for the last mile to the dock—to trade pedals for propellers on a well-earned ride home.
⛴ Ferry Schedule
Arriving from Seattle: To ensure an on-time start, please catch the 8:55 a.m. ferry at the latest.
Departing Bremerton: Return options include the 3:00 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. sailings back to Seattle.
🚴 Did You Know?
Kitsap County squeezes in over 250 miles of saltwater shoreline—more than any other county in Washington—thanks to its maze of inlets, peninsulas, and its scenic stretch between Puget Sound and Hood Canal. This route delivers on all of the above.
Restrooms are available at the start, onboard the ferry and along the route at Poulsbohemian (mile 16), Kitsap Memorial State Park (22), Kitsap Forest Theater (44), and Hot Java (mile 50).
We’ll climb and descend hills at our own pace, regrouping frequently to stay connected as a group. On multi-use paths, we’ll observe posted speed limits—typically 15 MPH, and occasionally 10 MPH—to ensure a safe and respectful ride for all.
Bring plenty of water, snacks, a packed lunch, a spare tube, and the tools you need to fix a flat. Don’t forget your phone, photo ID, and a bit of cash or a credit card for mid-ride purchases. If roads are wet, full fenders with long buddy flaps are required—otherwise, you may be asked to ride at the back to keep the group dry. Plan smart, pack right, and ride ready!
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride, and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is canceled at least two hours before the start, the Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
