Let's meet at the Sammamish River Trail Parking lot. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Speed Average: This ride will AVERAGE 20–22 mph, which reflects the overall average, not the constant speed. Expect higher speeds on flats and strong efforts on climbs. This is a super strenuous pace that requires both fitness and the ability to ride smoothly in a fast group.
We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Drop Policy: While I will do my best to keep the group together, riders who are unable to maintain the average pace may be dropped. If that happens, you'll be riding independently and should have the route loaded and be prepared to navigate solo.
Safety: Fast group rides require not just speed but also solid pack-riding skills. If you're new to this intensity or group dynamic, I recommend gaining experience on brisk or vigorous rides first. My priority is the safety of the group as a whole.
Ride Description: If you're like me and love vigorous group rides/routes but want a more accelerated pace, this is a good opportunity to still ride routes but to up the pace. We still ride SMART and regroup occasionally on harder climbs, but for stronger than vigorous riders who want a little more pace you've come to the right place.
Restrooms are available at the start. There will be no planned rest stops as these are short rides.
Navigation: In the event of separation due to mechanical or other problems, riders should download the route file into a GPS device or have another method of navigating on their own.
Mechanical issues: Riders should know how to change a flat, or deal with other minor mechanical issues and carry appropriate tools. Riders should have a charged cell phone to call for a pick-up, or an ORCA card for transit, or other back-up plan if roadside repairs are insufficient.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
