... of 10 spots remaining
We will gather at the parking lot of the Wildcat Lake County Park (free parking) in Bremerton, where my white Sprinter will await you. Be there, ready to go, at the time listed above. We will begin with a required safety briefing and roll out once that's complete. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
The 49-mile Wildcat–Dewatto Loop is a favorite among local cyclists, offering a mix of forested climbs, coastal views, including the West Dewatto Public Shellfish Beach, and quiet backroads. Known for its challenging terrain and natural beauty, the route features winding roads like Dewatto—praised for its solitude, scenic charm, and one particularly hair-raising downhill hairpin that demands your full attention.
Bonus Fun Fact
In Dewatto, where salty inlets meet rich tidal flats, butter clams and littlenecks have fed generations. At low tide, tiny squirts mark their hiding spots—a trick known to locals. Just for your future reference—bring your shellfish license, check the tide chart, and take part in the age-old coastal hunt.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, regroup frequently, and limit our speeds on multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH), ensuring a safe and enjoyable ride for all.
The ride will last about four hours, possibly longer. Lunch break will be at the Port of Dewatto (mile 28). The following stops include restrooms—at the start of the route, the Elfendahl Pass Staging Area (mile 14), the Port of Dewatto (mile 28), and the Camp Union Saloon (mile 45).
This is a remote route with limited water stops, so please come well-prepared. Bring plenty of water, snacks, and lunch, a spare tube, and tools to fix a flat—plus a phone, ID, and cash or credit card. Full fenders are required if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the back.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride, and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is canceled at least two hours before the start, the Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
