We will gather at the Allyn Waterfront Park (free parking), where my white Sprinter will await you. Be there, ready to go, at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Ready for a 46-mile ride with a little bite and a whole lot of charm? We’ll roll out from Allyn and follow quiet backroads through Grapeview to Harstine Island. Then, we’ll loop part of the island and stop at scenic Jarrell Cove State Park—perfect for a quick breather, restrooms, and a few selfies among the estuary and trees. On the return leg, we’ll take a longer break at the well-loved Olympic Bakery and Deli, known for its hearty lunches, excellent baked goods, and quality espresso drinks—a perfect spot to refuel before the final stretch.
Bonus Fun Fact:
Did you know Harstine Island is home to a wild cat sanctuary? The Wild Felid Advocacy Center is a volunteer-run refuge for about 40 non-releasable cats—from Mouse, a 7-pound Geoffroy’s Cat, to Bengal tigers Suri and Tabbi, each tipping the scale near 400 pounds. Though visits require a reservation, this hidden gem is a must-see for any cat lover.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, regroup frequently, and limit our speeds on multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH), ensuring a safe and enjoyable ride for all.
The ride will last about four hours, possibly longer. All our stops include restrooms—at the start of the route, Jarrell Cove State Park (mile 25), and the Olympic Bakery & Deli (mile 33).
This is a remote route, so please come prepared. Bring plenty of water, snacks, a spare tube, and tools to fix a flat. Also carry a phone, ID, cash or credit card, and an ORCA card. Full fenders are required if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the back.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride, and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is canceled at least two hours before the start, the Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
