Join us for a 50 mile ride on the beautiful, paved Centennial Trail.
Let's meet at the Arlington Visitor Center/Old Train Depot parking lot and please be ready to ride at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
We will start by heading north to the Nakashima Barn, the go back south through Arlington to and up the Armar Hill, then back through Arlington to the north end again and then back to finish at Arlington. Our pace will be 10-12 mph, about the minimum a rider should strive for if they hope to do a 2-day STP. This is a mostly a Zone 2 ride: aerobic/endurance training (you should be able to talk to your neighbor without gasping) or a great recovery ride if you have been riding hard in the days before. The Armar Hill will provide 4 miles of gentle climbing where you may get into Zone 3. Your Ride Leader is woefully out of shape and so you shouldn't have a problem keeping up.
Restrooms are available at the start and at 3.7, 7.9, 12.2, 16, 21, 29, 34, 38, and 45 miles
Water is available only at Arlington.
The days are getting warmer and the rides longer and more strenuous. Adequate hydration and near-constant snacking (heavy on the carbs) advised to prevent the dreaded "bonk."
This ride is a close facsimile to doing one-half of either STP day both in length and climbing. There are no steep grades.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
