Required equipment and supplies: All riders' bikes must be in excellent working condition. All riders' bikes must be capable of riding gravel and pavement safely. Please bring two liters of water and plenty of your favorite snacks. In addition, bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat and mechanicals, just incase. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card. This ride is not for beginner riders.
This is a difficult and challenging ride at a Moderate Pace of 14-16 MPH. Riding on gravel will sometimes be slower than on pavement. We will regroup often. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
We will meet in the parking lot east of the South Sixty Acres Field. The lot is on the south side of NE 116th St., and east of the smaller soccer field (South Sixty Acres). Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Get ready for a scenic gravel ride loop. We will ride the following trails: Sammamish River Trail, PSE Trail, Redmond Watershed Trails, Tolt Pipeline Trail, Redmond Ridge Trail, Snoqualmie Valley Trail, Preston Snoqualmie Trail, Issaquah Snoqualmie Trail, and Sammamish Lake Trail. This is a mix of road and gravel with some really nice views of Mountains, Rivers, and beautiful gravel trails.
Restrooms available at the start. We will stop along the way to eat snacks, use the restroom, and/or refill water: mile 7 Redmond Watershed South Parking Lot (eat snacks, water, and use the restrooms), mile 22 Nick Loutsis Park in Carnation (eat snacks and use the restrooms), mile 33 Preston Park in Issaquah has an option to stop at the nearby grocery store for snacks resupply etc. (snacks, water, use the restrooms), mile 42 Sammamish Lake State Park Boat Launch (eat snacks, use the restrooms, and water in bathroom sink if needed), and mile 49 Sammamish Landing Park (eat snacks, water, and use the restrooms).
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
