If you are looking forward to exploring the city on a culinary cycling circuit, join us!
Currywurst rides is a collection of 8 rides to unique food venues. We will be touring neighborhoods on Sundays from June through September every other week. The rides are between 28 to 45 miles with moderate hills with up to 2000 feet of elevation gain. The rides feature restaurants or taverns as the start and finish location that have Currywurst, Schnitzel and/or Rouladen on their menu. Can you tell that the ride organizer and ride leader is German? The goal is to work up an appetite first and then enjoy the social aspect of dining together. Please feel free to email manu.mcgee@gmail.com if you would like to be notified when rides are published.
Ride start: We are at ride #1
Let's meet at the Rheinhaus tavern and restaurant. Parking can be problematic on Capitol Hill sometimes. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
We will be crossing the Interstate 90 and Highway 520 bridges and roll through neighborhoods including Capitol Hill, Leschi, Mercer Island, and Bellevue and work up an appetite for Currywurst or Schnitzel.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup occasionally. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start at the restaurant. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at mile 20 (Meydenbauer beach park).
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Please also remember to bring a lock to secure your bike when joining the social part of the ride.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
