Join us for a ride from Totem Lake in Kirkland to Downtown Redmond to celebrate the opening of two new Line 2 Light Rail stations! The ride will conclude in Downtown Redmond and you are welcome to stay at the celebration as long as you like.
Let's meet at Totem Lake Park near the restrooms and playground (Totem Lake Park is adjacent to and on the South side of Totem Lake Mall). Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
The route is mostly flat on trails and roads. The first part is packed gravel on the Cross Kirkland trail, then on a combination of road & paved trails in Redmond.
This is a "stay together ride", you can climb and descend at your pace and will regroup as frequently as needed. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms and water are available at the start. Cascade Bicycle Club will have an area near the celebration in Redmond with pastries, pie, and coffee/drinks for our riders. Cascade will also have protected bike corral to allow riders to leave their bikes and participate in the festivities. Eastrail partners hinted to some type of swag to commemorate the event.
As this is a One-Way ride please plan to get back to the start location on your own.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
