Come celebrate the grand opening of the Redmond Light Rail Station! We heard from sponsors of this event that there is funding for incentives for ride leaders and riders. Specifically, the event producers are going to be sourcing some swag, and will likely be able to provide food/beverages to groups too (likely in the form of coffee, pie and pastries while supplies last). Cascade Bicycle Club is hosting a tent and is providing guarded bicycle parking.
Let's meet in the parking lot of Idylwood Park in Redmond. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Parking: If you're driving there, please use the overflow parking lot on 177th Ave NE just up from the park. On Google Maps, you’ll find it as “Idylwood Park Additional Parking”.
From Idylwood Park, we'll go down West Lake Sammamish Parkway before turning and climbing up to join 164th Ave NE to go back north. After passing by Microsoft Campus we'll join the 520 Trail into downtown Redmond and finish at the celebration by taking the Redmond Central Connector.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will stay together.
Restrooms are available at the start.
This is a one way ride. The ride leader will be leaving the celebration area between 1:30 pm-2:00 pm to return to Idylwood Park. You are free to stay as long as you like and return whatever way you choose. You can coordinate and ride back with the leader if you choose.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
