Let's meet at Taylor Park in Duvall. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
This is an out-and-back gravel ride featuring scenic views along the trails and primitive roads. We will climb and descend along the rolling hills of the Tolt pipeline, and if the weather cooperates, enjoy views of the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges. We'll ride rural paved and gravel roads out to the Falls, where we will enjoy a short snack and photo break.
This is a true gravel ride, suitable for a gravel bike with wide tires, or a mountain bike. We will ride sections of potholes and loose gravel, including climbs and descents.
The ride is across rolling hills over gravel, but the level of effort will be equivalent to maintaining a moderate (14-16 mph) pace over paved roads. There will be some steep climbs. We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, regrouping at the top. We will regroup frequently as a group and stay together through the ride.
Please bring at least two bottles of water, and a snack. The ride will take us into a primitive area with no water or restrooms. There is a sanican at the start. There is no water available at the start of the ride. We will stop at mile 15 at the falls for snacks and a photo opportunity.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat. Be prepared for mechanical failures; an unrecoverable failure may result in up to a three mile walk to reach a road. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
