Free Group Ride
Renton to Marination at Alki (Steady)
Event has already happened.
... of 20 spots remaining
Let's meet at the lower parking lot of Renton City Hall, located at 1055 S Grady Way, next to Home Depot. Be there and ready to go at the listed start time. We will begin with a required safety briefing, and we’ll roll out once that's complete. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Join us for a flat 31-mile ride from Renton City Hall to Marination Ma Kai, located next to Seacrest Park at Alki, which is also the west terminus of the West Seattle Water Taxi. Marination Ma Kai serves informal Hawaiian fusion cuisine at the site of the old Seacrest Boathouse on the west shore of Elliott Bay. We'll ride a flat 15 miles through Tukwila and South Park to get there. After a leisurely lunch stop, we’ll return the same way. This is a steady-paced ride, and the total time will be about 3.5 hours, including a 20-minute lunch/coffee break. We’ll climb and descend hills at our own pace, staying together as a group, even though there are no hills on this ride. We’ll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms are not available at the start, but we will have a rest stop 4 miles in at Foster Golf Links.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us on Saturday!
