Join us for a ride on the beautiful, paved Centennial and Bayview trails, plus a couple of miles on local roads. The ride is 29 miles of flattish to minor (a couple of blocks?) small but steep hills. Total ride climbing = 780 feet. Our pace will be 10-12 mph, about the minimum a rider should strive for if they hope to do a 2-day STP. This is a Zone 2 ride: aerobic/endurance training (you should be able to talk to your neighbor without gasping) or a great recovery ride if you have been riding hard in the days before. Your Ride Leader is woefully out of shape and so you shouldn't have a problem keeping up.
Let's meet at the Centennial Trail parking on 3rd St, just south and across the street from the library. Please be ready to ride at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Coffee stop in Lake Stevens is optional depending on riders' wishes.
Porta potties available at the start. Outbound there are restrooms at Machias (5 mi), Lake Stevens (8 mi), Lake Cassidy (11miles), Getchell (16 miles), Lake Stevens (19 mi) and Machias again.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
