Hills Out Of Auburn; Green Valley and Green River Gorge (Brisk)

Let's meet at the Auburn Fred Meyer in the northwest parking lot . Come early if you need to; use the restroom, buy snacks or drinks, or even get shades and helmet! We will start with a required safety briefing at 10:00, and roll out when that's done.  All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

HOOA! We start out with a nice 12 mile warm up through Green Valley, a meandering ride through pastures and farmlands next to the river. We'll stop at Whitney Bridge Park (mile 12) for a porta potty break, then proceed up our first climb to Enumclaw plateau. We'll ride through some more farmlands, this time, with Mt Rainier in the backdrop. We have an optional bathroom break at Deep Lake (mile 20) then take a rolling descent into the Green River Gorge. We usually stop here, especially on a nice day to take in the views of the 440 ft jagged chasm filled with boulders, waterfalls and trees. Then we climb out of the Gorge to Black Diamond Bakery for water, snacks and bathroom (mile 28). Then there's a quick lollypop loop to Lake Morton, the Lake Holmes rollers, and the final descent down the steep windy road. 

SE Green Valley Road and the hills will be at our own pace, and then we regroup, otherwise we stay together. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If theres drizzle we ride, if the rain is relentlessly steady, or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, I will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
