Let's meet at Tibbets Valley Park. You can park at Tibbets Valley Park or the Issaquah Transit Center if you are driving to the start. Please secure your vehicle and belongings, as there is never too much certainty in security. Be there, ready to go at the time listed. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Are you tired of being stuck inside spinning to unlock another pair of virtual socks or kit that you'll never wear, but you don't want to risk significant interactions with traffic? Please consider joining me to ride the Lake Sammamish Line - a social ramble on the trail from Issaquah to Redmond and back!
This is a ride where we will stay together with no significant hills. The posted trail speed limit is 15mph, and we shall not exceed it, even if we have a tailwind. Moreover, the ride will not exceed the "Moderate" power effort should there be a headwind (which is under 1.6W/kg [your cycling average power multiplied by your body weight in kilograms] on a road bike for most cyclists), so the average speed of this ride is guaranteed to be no more than 15mph, and will likely be less. We will watch for motorists crossing the trail via driveways, and other trail users including pedestrians, pets and other traffic. We will be mindful to keep the appropriate positioning on the trail, and only pass others in single-file formation while using bells and/or voices to appropriately inform of our intentions to pass. We may come to a full stop at all stop signs that are marked for us to stop on the trail, as in those instances the vehicles crossing the trail are considered to have the right-of-way.
Restrooms are available at the start in form of portable toilets and a facility with running water. However, in the event of a facility malfunction, you should come prepared to not require it. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at mile 12, where we'll engage in an approximately 20 minute social with refreshments available at Peet's Coffee or Whole Foods.
Bring a spare tube and tools, or anything else necessary to fix a flat or mechanical issue, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
