Meet you at the park and ride on Kimball - near the trailhead next to the Wilco Store. Be ready to ride at 10 - we'll start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Route is a loop, mostly outside of city limits, featuring scenic farm and water views. We will also do a couple of miles on Gig Harbor's lovely Cushman Trail.
There are lots of hills - we will climb and descend at our own paces. We will regroup after hills and before turns if we get spread out.
The park and ride has washrooms, but sometimes they are locked. There are a couple of businesses near the start, including the Starbucks on the corner of Pioneer and Kimball, where you can use a washroom on your way to the ride. We can also stop at the public washroom at Cushman Trail Trailhead park, less than a mile away from the start, if needed. We'll plan to stop for about 15 minutes at the Arletta store (mile 15) where there's a porta-potty and snacks available for purchase.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: charged cell phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
