Tacoma- Olalla Loop with a stop at Olalla Bay Market (Moderate)

Let's head out to beautiful Olalla!  We'll meet at the Narrows Park and Ride on 6th Avenue near Jackson.   We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

This ride is scenic and mostly rural. There are plenty of hills! We will climb and descend them at our own pace, and will regroup after hills and before turns if we are spread out. The route takes us along Gig Harbor's lovely Cushman Trail and the shared use path on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. These trails have no official speed limit - we will be following all trail rules and standard etiquette, including yielding to and being prepared to stop for people on foot. 

Plenty of free parking but unfortunately no public washrooms at the start. Gig Harbor's Skansie Brothers' Park is at mile 6 of our ride and we can stop there to use the bathroom and fill water bottles as needed. We'll plan for  longer stop at Olalla Bay Market is at the midpoint of the ride, around mile 17. There are washrooms and food and drink available for purchase there. There are also a few other washrooms along our route on the return.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
