... of 15 spots remaining
Let's meet at the Nick Loutsis Park in Carnation. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
We will ride the Snoqualmie Valley gravel trail out and back along a railroad grade, where we can admire the views of the the valley below while crossing the old trestles. At the Tokul tunnel, we'll carry our bikes up a short trail, and ride down to Snoqualmie Falls, where we can grab a cup of coffee at the visitor center and check out the Falls after our recent storms.
The trail is a gentle railroad grade, uphill on the way out and downhill on the way back. We will ride the gravel trail with an equivalent effort to a "moderate" pace over pavement at 15 mph. We will climb and descend the hill to the Falls at our own pace, and we will regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
- You must be able to carry your bike up a small hill. This section is equivalent to climbing about two flights of stairs.
- The trail is hard-packed gravel. Most road bikes can handle it, but you will be more comfortable with 32 mm or wider tires.
Port-a-pots are available at the start. There is no running water at the start, so fill your water bottles ahead of time. We will stop for restrooms, water, and coffee/snacks at Snoqualmie Falls (Mile 11) .
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
