Ride 2 Restaurant - Geraldine's Counter (Steady)
Event has already happened.
... of 10 spots remaining
You've heard of CHEW (Climbing Hills Everywhere in Winter), but you wanna BITE (Bike In Town and Eat). Well, it's your lucky day! Let's check out Geraldine's Counter, a storied American diner in Columbia City that serves hearty and vegetarian dishes.
Let's meet at the Gas Works Park Parking Lot - east side. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate. Bring your bike locks!
We will start off by going over University Bridge to Eastlake, through the Arboretum and then down towards Lake Washington. We'll ride briefly through Genesee Park to get to Geraldine's! Once everyone's satiated, we will head back along the same way along Lake Washington, then take the new bridge over SR520 to get back to UW, and finally to Gas Works again.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 5 and 15 (Madrona Park). We’ll also stop for brunch at Geraldine's at mile 10. There's also many other restaurants including Taproot Cafe, Marination Columbia City, and Tutta Bella Pizzeria if the wait time for Geraldine's becomes too long. Choose your own adventure!
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group. Bring your bike locks!
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
