Here is an opportunity to exercise off those Christmas - Hanukkah - Kwanza - Festivus calories!
This will be the 5th Mercer Island and Lake Washington Loop Ride that I have posted this year! This has been a popular ride, a relatively easy 32.5 mile ride with 1350 feet of climbing. We will start at Enatai Beach Park, which does have restrooms that are open, and if you are not familiar with this location please use Google Maps to find it. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
This is usually a very enjoyable ride around Mercer Island, with relatively little traffic. We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup occasionally. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. We will plan to stop for coffee and snacks at Third Place Books/Chucks Hop Shop in the Lakewood neighborhood near Seward Park (mile 17). We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at the Aubrey Davis Park on Mercer Island (mile 12) and an optional stop at Gene Coulon Park (mile 26).
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please wear weather appropriate attire. Consider hand warmers for your gloves. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above, such as steady rain or drizzle, or freezing conditions overnight, or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
