The Lake Sammamish Loop with a visit to see Jakob Two Trees in Issaquah. This will be the 5th time that I have led this ride this year, and the 7th time since last summer. Depending on the weather, it should be an enjoyable jaunt around Lake Sammamish. And this will be a great opportunity for me to use my new E-bike on a Group Ride.
Let's meet at the Tibbetts Valley Skate Park in Issaquah, at 10:00 a.m.. If you are not familiar with this location, please Google Map for directions. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
There is a moderate amount of elevation gain, and a generally easy loop around Lake Sammamish. However, keep in mind the weather is getting cooler at this time, and the most recent forecast indicates temp's in the 50's at the start, overcast conditions, and maybe rain overnight. Wear warm attire such as layers and a water resistant windbreaker, and "hotties" for your gloves are highly encouraged.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms have been available near the start, but that can change after Labor Day. There is a Porta-Pottie near the Skate Park. We’ll plan to stop for coffee/snacks at Peet's Coffee near the Redmond Whole Foods at 14.5 miles. We will regroup occasionally during the ride.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above, such as steady drizzle or rain squalls, or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
