Views and Fall Color in North Seattle (Steady)

Let's meet at the Lower Woodland Park Softball Fields parking lot. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

This ride uses the Interurban and Burke-Gilman trails and bike routes to see some highlights of North Seattle and Lake Forest Park. We'll take in views of Puget Sound and the Olympics as we ride up to Sunset Hill Park for a photo op. Descending Perkins Way, we'll pass a tranquil creek as we head into Lake Forest Park town center. And we'll have fall color along Lake Washington as we return on the Burke-Gilman Trail.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup frequently.  Our steady pace (12-14 mph on flats) will keep us within the speed limit on the trails. 

Restrooms and water are available at the start, in the building at the center of the softball fields. We will stop along the way for restrooms and water at mile 8 and restroom but no water at 13.8. We’ll also make a brief (20-minute) stop for coffee/snacks at Starbucks at mile 17.8.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
