... of 15 spots remaining
Let's meet at the Auburn Fred Meyer northwest parking lot. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
HOOA! We start out with a warmup climb up Auburn Black Diamond Road to enter into the King County wilderness. First stop is Lake Morton, and from there, we venture deeper into the woods to climb Tiger Mountain Road. We then descend into the Green River Gorge, then make our final climb out of the Gorge and stop at Black Diamond Bakery for a treat.
We will ride between 18 and 20 mph on the flats, climb and descend hills at our own pace, and regroup. Otherwise, we stay together. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH). If at any time you wish to leave the ride because its too fast or too slow, or bicycle mechanical issues... please have the route and/or a friend that can come pick you up.
Restrooms are available at Fred Meyer at the start.
We will make the following stops:
- Lake Morton for a Bathroom Break (mile 10)
- Tiger Mountain Store for a quick snack and water refill (mile 25)
- Black Diamond Bakery for our long break, bathroom, water, pastry (mile 51)
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
