Ride in Paradise (Self-Paced)

Let's meet at Ashford County Park parking lot.  Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

Traffic will be light on Thursday morning, so come join me on an epic ride going up and down Paradise twice. This is a self pace ride due to its hilly nature, but Travis and I will be taking a long break at the top of Paradise for food and water. While reservation is not required, you do have to purchase a day pass at the gate if you don't already have one

Restroom is available at the start, and there's an outhouse in Kautz creek (mile 9) as well.

A word of caution, if you are feeling tired after the first climb up to Paradise, do not descent down to Stevens Canyon,  just turn around and go back to Ashford, otherwise you are committed to an extra 4000 ft of climbing

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have at least 2 full water bottles, even 3 if you are a heavy sweater. Water fountains are only available at Longmire, Paradise, and Stevens Canyon entrance, the water fountain in Box Canyon doesn't work (we tried it on July 3rd)

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
