Join us for a ride from Mukilteo on a 130mile route at high brisk/low vigorous pace, 17-19mph.
Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
This ride is both scenic and challenging. Starting in Mukilteo, it winds north through Everett, Tulalip, Stanwood, La Conner, and Deception Pass. The return runs the entire length of Whidbey Island, completing the loop with a ferry ride and a short climb back to the start. This is a challenging ride. Participants should have recently and successfully completed a hilly century (100 mile) ride, to attempt this. There are several points along the route for food and bathrooms. There will be longer, planned stops at Stanwood and Oak Harbor for rest and re-fueling, and shorter stops as needed. Be prepared with at least two water bottles, adequate nutrition, and a back-up plan in the event you cannot complete the ride. This will be an all-day event.
Let's meet at the Trails and Tails Dog Park, Mukilteo (AKA Japanese Gultch). Be ready to roll at 8:00 am.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will re-group frequently.
There is a porta-potty, but no water available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 35, 53, 85, 101, and 120 with additional options available, if needed.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
