Lake Hills: Lakemont and Zoo Hill (Brisk)
Event has already happened.
... of 10 spots remaining
Join me for a quick hilly ride around Lake Sammamish area Lakemont and Zoo Hill. This week I am adding one more hill, bringing the total climb over 3000ft.
Let's meet at the Crossroads Park, north parking lot (by the restrooms). Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing at 6pm to participate in the ride.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup at the locations indicated below. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH). Note that while the pace is listed brisk (16-18mph on flats), there is not a lot of flat in this ride. We are either going up or going down. If you are not used to hilly rides, you this ride may not be the one for you. There are four regroup locations, which are:
1. Top of Lakemont (Lewis and Clark Park)
2. Intersection of Village Park and Newport way (end of descent from Village Park)
3. 170th Ave SE and SE 60th St (across from Open Window school).
4. Lakemont Highlands Park (after the descent from the summit park).
Note that there is no sweep in this ride. If you are significantly off the pace, you might have to finish the ride on your own. Also, if you decide to drop of the ride, please let other riders know so that they can communicate this to the ride leader. For either situation, it is important for you to have the route on your GPS.
Restrooms are available at the start. Given this is a fairly short ride, we will NOT stop along the way for restrooms/water or for coffee/snacks; please come prepared.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
