Let's meet at Tibbetts Valley Skate Park in Issaquah. If you are not familiar with this location, please Google Map it to be certain of directions and anticipated time to get to this location. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
This is the 3rd in the series of Eastside climbing focused rides that I have developed and I am planning to do create and post one more during July, prior to the Ride the Hurricane on August 4. These are primarily geared towards cyclists who find climbing challenging, and want to get better when they encounter long ascents or short but steep pitches. Although we welcome cyclists who are proficient at climbs, it is likely that they may have to wait at the top of climbing portions or regroup points, to let the rest of us - including me - catch up before making our way to the next major ascent.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms are available nearby at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at Central Park in Issaquah at Mile 4.6, and then plan to stop for coffee/snacks at Peets Coffee/Whole Foods in Redmond at mile 23.6. An optional stop at Lake Hills Park in Bellevue is available at mile 31.3, following the final climb up 172nd Avenue/Charlson Place.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Be sure to check that your derailleur works smoothly when shifting into your lowest gears, and that your brakes are in good working order. Please bring sunscreen and extra water with you. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, such as a heat index exceeding the 90+ degree level, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
