Celebrate Veteran's Day with a brisk-paced 36-mile route -- our 11th year hosting this ride.
Let's muster in the Woodland Park lower parking lot (near the soccer fields) at four bells (that's 1000 for you non-Navy cyclists). We'll have our pre-ride brief then and make sure everyone is ship shape to get underway. The route will take us north through Montlake Terrace and Lynnwood, then return via Edmonds, with some views of the Salish Sea. Our goal will be to stay together as best we can, regrouping at the top of the bigger hills.
It's November, so full fenders greatly appreciated if the roads are wet. We will take a head break at mile 18, and we'll also stop at Walnut Street Coffee for a cuppa Joe at mile 24 (free coffee for veterans today!) So that we don't create too much wake for other users, our speed will be way under 13 knots while on multi-use paths.
Hope you can join us. Vets: wear your service jersey and special poppy pins for you today.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
To all you veterans: Thanks for serving!
