Free Group Ride
Kenmore Redmond Evening Slow Roll (Leisurely)
Event has already happened.
Full
... of 10 spots remaining
Join us for a Leisurely paced ride (10-12mph on flats). Let's meet at 6PM in the parking lot of the Kenmore Park named TL'awh-ah-dees (formerly Squires Landing Park) at 7515 NE 175th St Kenmore, WA 98028. Parking available at the park and on-street. Please be ready to ride at 6PM. Please arrive 15-20 minutes early so you can get your bike and self ready to go. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Please bring a charged front & rear light. We plan to finish before dark but if you get a flat and need to finish on your own after fixing it, you'll need lights to be legal (and safe).
We’ll roll south along the Burke-Gilman Trail (BGT) until it transitions to the Sammamish River Trail (SRT) at about mile 2. We’ll transition to Eastrail at mile 6.8 for about a mile and a half of compact gravel (similar to the Cross Kirkland Corridor trail) passing the lavender fields of the Sammamish Valley. From there we’ll head east for a mile and start a gradual mile-long southbound climb into Redmond where we’ll descend back to the valley floor. From there, we’ll continue our trek northbound on the SRT & BG to the finish.
The 1.5 mile gravel section of Eastrail is compact gravel. Typical road tires should be sufficient. 28mm (or more) wide tires (written on side of tire) might be more comfortable.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace regrouping at top of bigger hills. Otherwise, we will stay together. We'll also limit our speed on multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH). Restrooms and water ARE available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at mile 14 (60 Acres SRT Trail Parking Lot).
After the ride we will (optionally) regroup at 192 Brewing (next to parking lot & on the BGT) to visit and for something to drink/eat (we will each pay for our own food/drink.)
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
