Let's meet at the bathrooms located near the parking lot for the velodrome in Marymoor Park. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
This is going to be a constant effort ride! The ride leader will pace at constant effort uphill, on the flats, and downhill! Come prepared for a long day of many miles as we enjoy the extensive trail system on the Eastside to ride from Redmond up to visit the entrance of the Snoqualmie Tunnel and then back again. (We don't plan to ride through the tunnel, which may be closed.) This ride will feature the Issaquah Preston Trail, the Snoqualmie Valley Trail, and the Cross Kirkland Corridor all of which are gravel trails. Since this ride is approximately 94 miles of gravel trails and only 39 miles of paved roadway, wider tires are recommended.
We will regroup occasionally, albeit infrequently. Regrouping will occur mainly at the rest stops and the top of the hills along the Tolt Pipeline Trail. Everyone is expected to keep the pace for the entirety of the ride; so if a brisk pace is a normal challenge for you, 130+ miles of gravel at this pace will be extra-challenging. If you have any questions about your ability to keep up, please contact the ride leader in advance! We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 40 and 115.5. We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks at The Black Dog in Snoqualmie at mile 87.5. Additional stops may be taken if necessary but are not planned! This is a long ride with only one snack break so please, please, please bring plenty of hydration and snacks! Bonking is no fun.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and lots (did we mention lots?) of snacks.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
