Wilkeson Gravel Ride (Vigorous)
Event has already happened.
... of 6 spots remaining
Let's meet at the Public Parking Lot located at 534 Church St., Wilkeson, WA. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
We will ride a half mile from the public parking lot across the street from the post office (same area as the Eagles Club Building) to the start of the climb. This segment is the only paved portion of the route. This is a gravel ride. The overall pace for this ride is vigorous. You should expect to climb for approximately 12 miles on a gravel road. You will climb at your own pace with re-group as designated during the safety briefing. This gravel road is privately owned and its primary use is for logging. There may be occasional logging trucks or company vehicles. They have the right of way. Be aware both visually and audibly for traffic and give them plenty of room to pass. There are some good views of Mt. Rainier at the top. It is not uncommon to encounter wildlife in this area. Depending on coverage, cell phone coverage is limited to non-existent in this area.
The public restrooms are out of order. Thus they are not available at the start. There are no planned stops on this ride.
A gravel bike with tubeless tires are optimal for this ride. Ensure your tires are properly inflated. Please come prepared as if you were riding alone including everything you would need in terms of water, nutrition and to repair a flat tire or broken chain on your bike.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
