Mark the end of January with "On the Banks of the Duwamish," a fun ride at leisurely pace with a coffee stop when we have completed about three quarters of the route.
Let's meet in the parking area in Jack Block Park at 9:45 a.m. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
After several miles on the bike path through an area of shipping and heavy industry, we will ride through Seattle's quiet, tree-lined South Park neighborhood. After that, the route will take us closer to the banks of the Duwamish River. We'll cross the river four times. After the first bridge, we will leave the Green River Trail and make our way through Tukwila's Allentown neighborhood. After the second bridge, we'll be back on the Green River Trail, where we will head north toward the start, crossing two more bridges along the way. When we've arrived in South Park (Mile 16), we'll stop for coffee and snacks at a new cafe, The Scene in South Park.
Restrooms and water are available at the start. Restrooms and water are also available at the coffee/snack stop.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
