FRUMPS: Lake Wilderness to Green River Gorge

Join us for a ride from Lake Wilderness in Maple Valley on a 41.5 mile route at Steady pace (12-14 mph on flat terrain)!

The Green River Gorge is a nice cool place to visit on a hot summer day.  We'll take a mix of neighborhood and scenic roads to get there, then stop at the Black Diamond Bakery on the way back.  There is at least one short stretch of hard-packed gravel, but nothing that can't be handled with a road bike.

Let's meet at the Lake Wilderness Lodge (not the park unless you have a Discover Pass) and please be ready to ride at 10:00 am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently, at tops of hills and major turns. 

Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at Ravensdale Park (mile 15), for water at the gorge (mile 30) and coffee/snacks at the Black Diamond Bakery at mile 34.  Be sure to bring snacks because the lunch stop is late in the ride.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
