Join us for a preview of the first 35 miles of the RSVP route between Seattle and Lake Stevens as well as an opportunity to increase your stamina with a long ride. We will start at Machias Station on the Centennial Trail then head south through the Snohomish River valley, up some long but not particularly steep hills to Maltby followed by rolling hills for several miles approaching Woodinville. We have a long moderately steep drop into Woodinville where we pick up the Burke-Gilman trail which we follow all the way to the U District. The route is reversed on the way back except that we will make a short deviation to the Snoqualmie ice cream factory in Maltby. RWGPS predicts that the ride has 2025 feet; however, when I rode the route it came in at nearly 3,700 feet. We will regroup at the top of hills and as necessary after descents. A Ride With GPS route is available at the link below. If you want a cue sheet, please print one and bring it with you.
Public restrooms and water are available at the start, Snohomish, Maltby, Log Boom Park, and Matthews Park. Summer months are here and it may get quite warm before the ride is over. Please bring plenty of liquid as well as a snack to munch on.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the ride to sign the liability waiver if you didn’t register online and to hear the safety (SMART) briefing. Please register for this ride using the Register Tab. If you cannot make the ride, you do not need to unregister.
Be sure to bring a spare tube as well as the tools and knowledge to fix a flat. If the roads are wet please have fenders with long mud flaps or plan on riding at the end of the line.
Ride Cancellation: Should conditions call for a cancellation, a cancellation notice will be posted in the comment section below at least two hours prior. If canceled, the ride leader will not be at the start.
We hope you can join us.
