This ride has to be cancelled. Regrets.
The ride goes by some of the more interesting landmarks of Seattle, including Green Lake, the Troll, Statue of Lenin, Fremont Rocket, Golden Gardens, Ballard Locks, Magnolia Bluff, Smith Cove, Seattle Center and Lake Union.
There are two long but not high-grade hills (Ravenna and Magnolia) and a couple of lesser ones, and even though the ride goes thru some downtown, most of it is on protected bike trails (Mercer and W. Lake Union). The scenery even on cloudy days really shows off the beauty of Seattle.
At a steady pace and staying together, this will give you a good work-out but not that difficult. We regroup at the tops of hills and when it seems necessary.
There is no formal lunch stop, but we will break about half-way to nibble snacks that you bring and use the restrooms at the Locks. It is required to walk across the Locks about a quarter of a mile rather than ride. A short pause at the Seattle Center Fountain for pictures is optional.
Please arrive early enough to get yourself and bike ready and listen to the short safety talk. Coffee and restooms at the start inside the CBC. We leave at 11:00.
Steady rain, ice/snow, high winds will cancel the ride, and the ride leader may not be at the start. Check below in Comments, posted at least two hours before the start of the ride or call 425.273.4156 after 9:00 a.m. on the morning of the ride if unsure.
