Saturday Coffee Rides for NFL fans #7: Coffee in Carnation
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Saturday Coffee rides for NFL fans. Another cycling season draws to a close. Now what? Coffee time! Bring your rain bike and join us for seven rides in seven weeks on the Eastside, on Saturdays so you can enjoy the game on Sunday (Seahawks vs. Philadelphia Eages this Sunday). We ride to a coffee shop each time, alternating starts between Woodinville and South Bellevue. This series can help you qualify for your highly sought-after Coffeeneuring patch. Let's relax and get a cup of coffee after training hard all season. This week's ride begins in Woodinville at Wilmot Gate Park (we'll leave from the Parking Lot adjacent to the Ball Fields).
Route Description: We'll climb up and wander through Hollywood Hill, climb up to Redmond Ridge, descend Union Hill & Ames Lake Rds, spin through the Snoqualmie River valley, climb up to the Sammamish Plateau, circle Beaver Lake, and descend to E Lk Sammamish Pkway for the run back to the start. What else would you want to do on a Saturday?
BTW, several sources have identified this date (Nov 19) as the day most likely to rain in the Seattle area.....let's hope they are wrong for this year!
Destination - Coffee in Carnation (Starbucks and/or Sandy's)
As usual for Fall and Winter group rides, as a courtesy to others in the group, you will need long fenders unless it is bone dry out, and zero percent chance of rain forecast. Showers or worse will cancel. BTW, several sources have identified this date (Nov 19) as the day most likely to rain in the Seattle area.....let's hope they are wrong for this year!
Route changes will be finalized by Wednesday evening before the ride.
Regroups will be occasional, though not at every turn, so please bring a cue sheet or load the route on your GPS. We will always wait at the top of the hills, so you can climb those at your own pace.
Mechanicals will not stop the group. Please be sure you have the equipment and knowledge to change flats, plus a cue sheet to get home, or a phone to call for assistance if needed.
Please make sure you are at the start and ready to ride 15 minutes before rollout. You must attend the safety briefing and sign the waiver, or register on this page and check in at the start, in order to ride with the group. There will not be water or restrooms at the start so please arrive prepared.
I will not be at the start if weather conditions meet the criteria for cancellation (showers cancel). If the weather is such that we wouldn't start, I will post a cancellation notice in the Comments block, below, at least 2 hours prior. Icy conditions also will cancel. Please register for the ride by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page. In the screen that follows, click the waiver release box, complete the Emergency Contact Number, and click on Save. By doing this you will save time at the ride start.
Mentoring is available. Leave a comment below if you're interested, and do know the route of course.
