Holiday Lights Ride
Join us for the 7th year of riding and looking at Holiday Lights!
Since around 2009, Eastside tours has been going on a special ride in December to look at holiday lights in Redmond, Bellevue, and surrounding areas. Your ride leader has scouted out the best lights and put together a route that will visit them all.
This will be a mellow ride though there are a few hills to climb along the way.
If the weather is marginal, the ride leader will make a go/no-go decision at or before 5:30 PM. Cancellations will be posted in the comments for the ride, on the Eastside Tours facebook page, and on the meetup for the ride. If this ride is cancelled due to rain, we will attempt to ride December 6th.
Lights are required for this ride. Please bring a headlight that is at least 400 lumens; some of the areas we ride can be very dark.
No on-line registration for this ride.
Eastside Tours Ride
Welcome to the 18th year of Eastside tours. We range from Bothell in the north down to North Renton in the south, from Medina to the Ames Lake area, and all points in between. Our routes are different every night and the exact route is a mystery to everybody except the ride leader. If you would like to find more great places to ride, this is the ride for you.
We are generally a mellow group on the flats, with a target speed of 17MPH. We like hills, and an average ride will feature 1500' or so of climbing. A hill like Sahalee or Louis Thompson Road are pretty typical of the kind of hills that we climb. We make occasional forays into steeper climbs but they are generally short pitches. We don't do climbs like Zoo Hill or Squak Mountain, though we might head up Sommerset now and then. You can find some sample rides on the website linked below.
All hills are climb at your own pace, and we regroup at the top of all of our hills.
We stress safe riding skills and behaving ourselves as a group.
