Answer the call to ride and join the Seattle Cycle Sirens (SCS) for our clinic-and-a-ride event! This is part of the SCS's effort to host women-friendly training rides to help riders prepare for group ride events like Cycle the WAVE (Women Against Violence Everywhere), Kitsap Color Classic and more.
The clinic/talk will begin at Pickering Barn at 9 a.m. and the ride will begin at 10:00 a.m. If you choose to skip the talk please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early (e.g., 9:45) for the actual ride start to ready your bike, sign the waiver and participate in the SMART safety briefing. (For this session we will demonstrate how to repair a flat tire, as well as additional information you should know to maintain your tires. This talk will take approximately 50 minutes, which leaves 10 minutes before the ride start to run to the restroom or prep your bike.) The ride leader(s) may be willing to stay after the ride to discuss other group riding topics if requested.
This is the Lake Sammamish Loop and this week's ride will take us on some familiar roads. This route, a favorite of Cascade's Ride Leaders, will be 23.2 miles at a STEADY pace with fun, rolling hills to develop our skills and confidence. We will be using a combination of roads and trails.
The Ride Leader(s) will be leading a MODERATE paced ride (14-16 mph on the flats with no headwinds or tailwinds). Those who wish to ride at a faster pace are welcome to do so, but it will then become a self-guided ride for them. Slower riders are also welcome to take the route at their own pace as this is a NO-DROP ride and we will regroup as needed along the way.
Riders are expected to have the following with them: A properly fitted helmet, adequate water, a spare tube, a pump and other tools to change a flat tire.
