Have you ever wanted to do the Seattle-to-Portland bike ride? And forgot to sign up? or train? Here is your big chance! Do it in 2 hours and end up at a huge finish line party! Same weekend as Cascade's big STP, so you can brag and post pix like the other one-day riders.
Join us for a ride from Hamilton Viewpoint Park in West Seattle on a 10.2 mile route at a leisurely 10-12 mph pace!
West Seattle Bike Connections will be riding once again from SW Seattle Street in the Admiral neighborhood to SW Portland St in Fauntlee Hills, and back north to Summerfest at the West Seattle Junction, for a fabulous finish line party. After an hour or two there, participants can ride home independently, or ride with a leader back to the start.
Let's meet at Hamilton Viewpoint and be ready to ride at 9:15 am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
Our goal will be to stay together as a group. Be prepared for a moderately hilly route. There are a couple of hills that some may wish to walk up. That's fine. We will regroup at the top of those. We invite and welcome everyone including people of all ages, languages, ethnicities, genders races, and abilities.
Restrooms are not available at the start. Closest public restrooms are at Seacrest Park (the water taxi dock) on Harbor Ave. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at mile 2.7 at the Alaska Junction.
Check brakes and tires before leaving home. Arrive in time for 9:15 ride description and safety briefing. Helmets required. No ear buds.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!

Getting ready to roll
Weather forecast looks perfect and we already have 31 riders registered as of Thursday morning. It looks like this will be our biggest West Seattle STP ever! To help get us off to a good start, please arrive a bit early to be ready for the 9:15 ride briefing. Kate Wells and Ryan Baum have volunteered to assist riders at the start and along the way. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the ride leaders.
Final update - see you soon
As of 7 am, we have 46 riders! To make it easier at intersections and for meeting oncoming traffic, we will split into two groups. Ride leaders will be at the start by 9 am. Check your bike, bring some water, and be ready to have fun!
