Join us for a recreational ride from the East Marymoor Lot in Redmond on a 42 mile route at a moderate pace of 14-16 MPH!

This route takes us on Eastside trails and country roads beginning along the east shore of Lake Sammamish. Our first challenge will be riding up the Sammamish Plateau via Louis Thompson Rd. We will wind past Pine Lake and visit Beaver Lake for a quick pit stop, continuing on past Duthie Hill Mountain Bike Park. A gradual descent into the Snoqualmie Valley brings us to our coffee / lunch stop at Aroma Coffee in Fall City, mile 19. After lunch, we climb back out of the Snoqualmie River valley, cross the Raging River and hop onto the peaceful Snoqualmie Preston Trail. Eventually, we will meet up with I-90 and parallel the highway for approximately 5 miles where we will enjoy great views of the Issaquah Alps and only occasional highway noise. Just after High Point, we will ride approximately 2 miles of packed gravel/dirt trail (a gentle 2-3% downhill). We will rejoin the E Lake Sammamish Trail in Issaquah for our return to Redmond.

Let's meet at the East Marymoor Lot in Redmond and please be ready to ride at 10 am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.  There is no parking fee at the East Marymoor Lot and there are bathrooms available nearby.

Our goal will be to stay together but we will climb and descend hills at our own pace, regrouping when it is safe to do so We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH). NOTE: This route includes approximately 2 miles of packed gravel. A gravel bike is not required, but wider road bike tires (28mm+) may make this section more enjoyable.

A bathroom is available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles miles 8, 19 and 33. We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks at Aroma Coffee at mile 19.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.

We hope you can join us!

Comments

I was hoping the forecast would be wrong, but there's a steady rain here in Sammamish. It's forecasted to be slightly heavier out in Fall City and last all day. I will cancel for today, but will re-post the same ride for Tuesday, June 20th. I hope you can make it!

Happy riding!
Sylvia
