The Great Scott! Series

Explore Seattle's back streets at a comfortable pace with a sociable crowd. Every Thursday, a regular bunch of old friends and a curious bunch of new friends ride as far as evening light permits, venturing places seldom seen via routes seldom taken. We won't go looking for a challenge (we'll never ride the Counterbalance), but neither do we avoid one; we'll gradually top a hill or two and savor the view along the way. Bring money for pizza afterward. Heavy rain means we eat early.

This Week's Ride

This week we start our series with a relatively short and easy route. We'll cross the Fremont Bridge to ride the Westlake Cycle Track, cross through Seattle Center and down to get just a taste of the Seattle Waterfront, then follow the Elliot Bay Trail north through Myrtle Edwards Park, Centennial Park and Interbay to Fishermen's Terminal. We'll return to Gas Works via the South Ship Canal Trail. Future rides will range from about 12 to 18 miles with varying elevation gains, depending on the length of daylight and ride leader's whims:-)

Please be at the west end of Gas Works parking lot ready to ride at 6:15pm. We will start with a required pre-ride safety briefing, and ride when that is done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to join this ride.

For Every Ride...

Summer parking at Gas Works is challenging; street parking is available across N. Northlake Way or on local side streets; allow extra time! Carry a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. If biking home after the ride please be sure to have front and rear lights. Always bring your sense of humor and patience; this IS a Great Scott ride:-)

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.

After the Ride...

Please plan on joining us for a PICNIC at Gasworks! We'll be at some small tables just east of the playground on the lake side of the equipment barn. Plenty of space to safely park your bike where we meet too. At least one of our riders will be bringing an ice chest with some soda and water. We'll be going to PCC to pick up their great pizza for anyone who is interested. Please bring $5 cash if you want a couple of slices, and a few extra $ for the provided drinks. If you want an alternate beverage it's BYOB. If you're able, PLEASE bring anything you'd like to add/share:-)

We look forward to riding with you!

Trying to register for the ride this week but the site is not allowing me to.  I rode with Scott in the past and came last week.  If for some it is not ok just let me know when I get there.
