Ride Description:

FRUMPS: Friday Rides for Underemployed Merry Pedalers.

Join us for an unhurried 44-mile ride from Woodinville. We’ll have a brief stop at Bob’s Corn & Pumpkin Farm near Cathcart for a restroom / snack break (hot, fresh pumpkin spiced donuts, cider, and other goodies will be available for purchase). Then we’ll ride along the Snohomish and Snoqualmie Rivers to Trilogy QFC for lunch. After that it will be mostly downhill to Marymoor Park, followed by a flat ride on the Sammamish River Trail back to Woodinville.

Pace is Steady - expecting riders to be able to sustain a speed of 12 - 14 MPH on flat, windless terrain for three to four hours. There are two hill climbs of note: The first is near the beginning of the route (climbing 370 ft in 1.7 miles) and the second is at Mile 20 (485 ft. in 2.3 miles). We will take them at our own pace and will regroup as needed on all hills. Restrooms are available at the start, at the first break (Mile 10), at lunch (Mile 26), and at Mile 36.

Please send a message if you are unsure if this is a good ride for you or if you have any other questions.

Let’s meet at Woodinville Sports Field parking lot. Please be ready to ride at 9:45 AM when we will do the safety briefing and get on the road. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: If you are not present and ready at 9:45 when we start the safety briefing, you will not be allowed to participate.

Bring ID, a spare tube, tools, and knowledge to fix a flat; a cell phone in case you cannot finish, water bottles, pocket snacks, and money for lunch. Please have fenders if the roads are wet or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start, and Ride Leader(s) may not be at the start location. It is always wise to check the Comments section before you drive to the start of a ride. Rain during the ride could modify the route.

RideWithGPS route map and cue sheet are at the link below. If you want a cue sheet, please print it.

We hope you can join us!

Comments

You're probably wondering if this ride will be canceled due to the significant possibility for rain.

If it’s not raining at the start, and it’s not apparent we’ll get soaked, we'll proceed with the ride.  If it starts to rain during the ride, we may shorten the route.

Ride Leaders will be at the start where the final decision to ride will be made.
