Join us for a ride from View Ridge Playfield on a hilly 54 mile route at a Brisk pace (16-18 mph)!
This is a reprise of one of the Cascade Advanced Training Series (CATS) rides, with the start moved to View Ridge. We'll head up over the ridge and then down to Windemere before heading south along Lake Washington. Crossing Rainier Ave S, we'll climb 55th Ave S before taking Beacon Coal Mine Road down into Renton and a rest stop at a Starbucks at mile 23. From there we'll continue south before dropping down into the Duwamish Valley and turning north on the Interurban Trail to Tukwila and the MacAdam Road descent to our second rest stop at mile 36 (at Tukwila Community Center). We'll ride back along Boeing Field, up and over Beacon Hill (descending on Cheasty Blvd), and then up through Mt. Baker before descending down to Lake Washington and heading north through the arboretum and back to View Ridge.
Let's meet near the restrooms at View Ridge Playfield. Please be ready to ride at 8:30 am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group. Parking is available along 45th Ave NE north of NE 70th Street and along NE 70th St. in front of the Playfield.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 23 and 36, including Starbucks at mile 23 .
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
