This is a history ride to visit and learn facts about various historic and interesting sites around Lake Union. It is a redux because the ride was originally postponed in March 2020 due to the pandemic.
We will meet at the east end of the parking lot at Gas Works Park (2101 N Northlake Way, Seattle, WA 98103). Bicycle access is just off the Burke-Gilman Trail across the street. Parking can be found in the adjacent parking lot. Transit access includes biking from the Link light rail station at UW (2 miles away) or biking from King County Metro Bus routes 32 and 62 each with stops a few blocks away.
There are a total of 12 stops on this ride during which the ride leader will give some details about the history/geography/etc. for a couple of minutes. We will take a restroom & snack break at the Center for Wooden Boats about halfway through the ride (mile 7.4).
Please note: due to all the starts/stops, this ride is expected to last around 3-4 hours.
Click Register Now above if you would like to attend this ride.
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the ride start (i.e. arrive at 8:30). Please bring basic tools (extra tubes, patch kit, etc.) as well as water and snacks, as it may be warm that day. Have a back-up plan in case you are unable to finish (friend/family who can pick you up, ORCA card to use public transit).
Cancellations: In the event of a weather cancellation, a notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride, and the ride leader will not be at the ride start location.
Restrooms: there are restrooms at Gas Works Park (start/finish), optionally at Montlake Playfield Park (mile 3.7), and the Center for Wooden Boats (mile 7.4).
Cue sheet: Route link cue sheets will not be provided. Please print one using the RideWithGPS link below if desired.
E-bikes: This is an e-bike-friendly ride. Please consult the "Can I ride my e-bike on a Free Group Ride?" section on the Cascade Free Group Rides FAQ's link for more information. Be sure to have your battery/power pack fully charged before you arrive for the ride.

Hoping you have an opening! Would love to ride, but it filled up
Sigh - The ride roster filled before I saw it! If there's a wait list or cancelation I'd love to join.
Best, and safe riding to all.
