Please note: During COVID-19 restrictions, all Free Group Rides are limited in the number of allowed participants. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please click the red "Cancel My Registration" button above so that an additional spot will be made available to another.
Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.
We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.
Come with me for a little Figure-8 up and down the Green River Valley. We'll ride from Kent to Renton on some quiet roads, then pick up lunch at Jaguar Mexican Restaurant. We'll pack our vittles down the block to Tonkin Park, where we can share some time with a (bronze) donkey. After our repast, we'll pedal back down to Kent on a mix of trail and roadway. This'll be a Moderate ride; with only a few small hills, we'll look to stay together.
We'll meet at the James Street Park and Ride in Kent; plan to be ready by 9:45 AM, so that we can roll out at 10:00 AM. Restrooms are not available at the start, but we'll stop at Three Friends Fishing Hole Park about 9 miles in.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
Our lunch stop, Jaguar, has been serving casual Mexican food for years. Originally named El Burrito Loco, the restaurant served Renton from a little storefront near N 3rd and Park, until construction of the new Sartori Elementary resulted in the loss of their original spot. Burrito Loco moved a mile south to their current location; the name changed a few years ago, the friendly vibe and good food have not. We hope you can join us for a social ride and some lunch!
