Ride Description:

This ride is a mash up of the last parts of Bike for Pie on B.I. and Chilly Hilly. It is shorter and less hilly than Chilly Hilly - but don't worry, there will be plenty of hills! (and we'll regroup after them and before turns if we get spaced out).  We'll meet at the Bike Barn near the ferry terminal on Bainbridge at around 11:20 am. If you are coming by ferry from Seattle, please take the one that leaves at 10:40 am. Ride leader will not be on the ferry but will meet you at the Bike Barn for introductions and safety briefing. The route takes us along the southern part of the island, featuring views of Kitsap Peninsula and Seattle across the water and also goes through Fort Ward Park, a part of the Island that Chilly Hilly by-passes. (Route linked below, feel free to download and/or print a copy of the cue sheet if desired) Blackbird Bakery is one of many great businesses in Winslow - riders are invited to join me there for a post ride treat.

Please note: During COVID-19 restrictions, all Free Group Rides are limited in the number of allowed participants. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please unregister for this ride so that an additional spot will be made available to another.

Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer,  disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.

We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.

Helmets are required! Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group. Other items to bring: ID, a charged cell phone, water, cash/credit card, a small snack. (also, as mentioned above, kleenex, wipes, hand sanitizer, a face covering)

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride at least two hours prior to the start and will not be at the start location. I have done the official Chilly Hilly ride in some rain, so if it is only raining, I will put on my rain gear and ride.  I will cancel only if weather makes riding unsafe.  Please check here before leaving for the ride and please cancel your registration if you decide not to join us.
