Join us for a ride from Fall City to the south edge of Duvall and back on a 31-mile route at a steady pace (12-14 MPH on flats with no wind)!
This is a scenic, rural route with about 13 miles at the start on the easy-riding gravel of the Snoqualmie Valley Trail. If you are new to gravel riding, this ride is a good place to start or to increase your comfort on a non-paved surface. The fine gravel of this former railroad bed is mostly hard-packed into dirt. A gravel or cyclocross bike, mountain bike, or road bike with at least 28 mm wide tires can work for this surface.
Let's meet at the gravel parking lot of the Fall City Community Park. Be ready to ride at 9:45 am, when we will have our pre-ride safety briefing. We will depart at 10:00 am.
There are a couple of short hills, which we will climb and descend at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently as needed.
A restroom (port-o-let) but no water is available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms (but no water) at miles 7 and 20. We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks (but no restroom) at the Carnation Farms farmstand at mile 18.6.
Be sure to bring your own water and any food you will need for the ride. Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Have a plan in case of mechanical issues that can't be addressed on the ride. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group. If you would like a cue sheet, please print one from the Ride with GPS file below.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
