Ride Description:

Biking Out Of Tacoma!  Hoping to do a weekend series starting from Tacoma's War Memorial Park/ Narrows Park and Ride next summer and will be trying out some of my favorite solo routes with the small groups we are allowed to have this year. This one goes to through Gig Harbor and Olalla to Port Orchard and returns via Bethel-Burley Road and Cushman Trail.  Very scenic and some climbing! (Route linked below - you can download it or print a cue sheet if you would like one).

We'll be meeting at 9:15 am and leaving for the ride at 9:30 am after introductions and a brief safety talk.

Please note: During COVID-19 Phases 1.5 and 2, all Free Group Rides are limited to six total participants: the Ride Leader and five others. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please unregister for this ride so that an additional spot will be made available to another.

Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer,  disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.

We will regroup after hills and before turns if we get spaced out. There's a washroom on Cushman Trail at mile 4.5 or so that we can stop at as needed. We will make a stop in Port Orchard for washrooms and quick food purchases/ human re-fueling.

Helmets are required. Other things to bring: ID, cash and/or credit card, a charged cell phone, supplies to fix a flat or other minor mechanical, water and snacks. Lights on your bike are recommended but not required if you have reflectors. Out of consideration for others, please have full fenders if roads are wet - you may be asked to ride at the back if you do not have fenders. And as mentioned above, in these times, you will need a face covering and should also pack hand sanitizer and kleenex.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Wanted to do this one in October, but weather didn't quite co-operate - hoping for better this time.... Please check before leaving for the ride.
