  • Carry a face covering in case a business or public transit requires their use.
  • Please, no spitting or “snot-rockets” while participating.
  • A CPSC certified helmet is required to be worn to participate.

Please note: During COVID-19 Phases 1.5 and 2, all Free Group Rides are limited to six total participants: the Ride Leader and five others. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please unregister for this ride so that an additional spot will be made available to another.

Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer,  disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.

Join us for a ride from Northern Fish Company on Ruston Way for a 17.2 mile route at Moderate pace (14-16 MPH)!

We will begin by riding along Ruston Way and a part of the new paved trail around the Point Ruston shopping center, then up to Point Defiance Park where we will roll through the scenic Five Mile Drive. We exit the park and weave our way through the NW part of Tacoma en route to Cutters Point Coffee near Wilson HS. We'll return to the start location via nicely paved roads with plenty of room for cyclists.

Let's meet at the Northern Fish Co. at 12:40pm for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 1:00pm.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently. Restrooms are available at the start (public restrooms on Ruston Way). We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 13.2. If necessary, there are several portable toilets situated along the Ruston Way waterfront as well as in the Point Ruston shopping center. We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks at Cutters Point Coffee at mile 13.2.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will NOT be at the start location.
