Let's ride Cushman Trail ! We'll meet at the parking lot at Old Town Bicycle - if you dusted off your bike and realize that it has not benefited from resting in your garage for a while, get to the start early and get some help from their expert mechanics. The route is two out and backs - first along "old Cushman" going towards the bridge and then on "new Cushman" going towards Borgen Boulevard. New riders or riders that haven't been out for a while are encouraged to come, as are more experienced riders who are up for a social ride and supporting others. This is a family friendly ride - please see the "information for parents" linked below for details. If you are new to Cascade Free Group rides, please see the "information for newcomers" linked at the top. The trail has water fountains and washrooms that we will stop at as needed. It also has a few hills that we will take at our own paces and regroup after.
There will be optional post ride socializing at Wet Coast Brewing Company Tasting Room, a very short walk around the building from the start location. All ages are allowed at the tasting room and you also can bring your own food, so I am thinking some samosas from Gateway to India down the street If you do the first out and back and are not feeling it for the second one, you can start at the tasting room early.
Please meet me in the parking lot at around 10:15 am so we have time for short safety talk and introductions. I would appreciate it if you could register for the ride by clicking the red "register now" button at the top. You do not need to be a member of Cascade to register on-line, you merely need to create a free account. Doing this beforehand will save us time at the start and then I will also have your information clearly written on my paperwork. There is no need to "unregister" if your plans change. We will start the ride at 10:30am and if you are not there, we will look forward to seeing you on a future ride.
Helmets are required for all participants on Cascade Free Group rides. Some other good things to have: a charged cell phone, a credit card and some cash, ID, water and snacks, supplies to fix a flat (spare tube, pump, tire levers) fenders on your bike if roads are wet, front and back lights.
Cancellation Policy: This is a ride to get you all hooked on biking. Lousy weather will cancel and I will post it for another time. If the ride is canceled, the cancelation will be posted in the comments section below before 8:30am and ride leader will not be at the start.

RIDE CANCELED
As of 16 March, Cascade Bicycle Club and the Rides Committee have decided to suspend Free Group Rides through the end of March and reevaluate the situation surrounding the coronavirus at that time.
Bicycling is still a great way to exercise and boost your immune system during this time of public health advisory. We encourage you to find a way to continue to ride your bike in a responsible and safe way during the upcoming weeks.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these difficult times. We look forward to riding as a group again soon. Stay safe and healthy.
