Grab your bike and join me on a leisurely paced ride (with some hills) from Kirkland’s Juanita Goodwill parking lot to the Medina neighborhood in Bellevue. Free parking available at the start. Restrooms available in 1.5 miles at Juanita Bay Park.
We start out cycling on Kirkland roads following Lake Washington Blvd for 5 miles. Connect to the hilly 520 trail off NE Points Drive and follow to Evergreen Pt. Rd. The ride leader will wait at the top of hills for everyone to catch up. Diverge to Medina’s upscale neighborhood and enjoy cycling past beautiful homes and gardens looping around the Overlake Golf Club. Restrooms are available at Medina Park. Return to Kirkland via the 520 Trail and follow Lake Washington Blvd. to the Carillion Point Starbucks for a food stop so bring some money or credit card if you wish to purchase snacks. Continue to Marina Park (bathrooms available) then uphill on Market Street and back to Juanita Goodwill and the cars.
There are a some hills on this ride so low gears and knowledge of gear shifting is required.
Online pre-registration is encouraged for this ride. It provides legible emergency contact information and saves time at the trail head. A Cascade account is necessary to signup online. Click on the red 'register' button under the ride title. You don't have to unregister if you change your mind. Arrive early by 9:40 am to allow time to park car, listen to the safety briefing, meet other riders and sign the waiver (if you haven't signed up online).
Carry a water bottle, snacks, and money if you wish to purchase a snack. Helmets are required!
Please bring spare tube, patch kit and CO2 inflation or pump to fix your own flat tire.
Print a map/cue sheet from the link below and bring it on the bike, if you want one.
If weather is inclement check the comments section for ride cancellation notice. A notice will be posted 2 hours prior to meet time and the ride leader will not appear at the start.
